A discount Kent retailer is gearing up to open its third branch, bringing reduced-price products that have passed their best-before date to the Medway towns. Bargain Warehouse, which already operates stores in Folkestone and Ashford, has confirmed it is expanding into Rainham Shopping Centre.
The business will take over the former Jhoots Pharmacy at Unit 8 and efforts are now underway to refit the space ahead of its summer opening. Previously dubbed the county’s budget bulk-buy answer to Costco, Bargain Warehouse stocks a selection of big brand items sold at reduced prices.
Unlike Costco, customers will not need a membership to shop at any of its three locations. Short use-by dates mean items can be sold at a fraction of the full retail price and will pass on savings to customers.
Previously speaking to KentLive, the owners behind Bargain Warehouse said: “This means we are able to stock world-famous brands at prices so low, the major supermarkets struggle to match us.” They continued: “None of our products are sold past their use-by date.
“Some of our stock may be past its best-before date, but this is just a matter of quality. It simply means the manufacturer cannot guarantee the exact same taste, texture or colouring.”
